IB Chemistry Tuition

My tutor taught me at the beginning of my IB2. What I liked most about her lessons, was the way she explained concepts which helped me to easily understand. I went through the questions which I practised with her, and I would write down her explanations (for those questions that I answered wrongly) so that I could refer to the explanations during my revision. I wasn’t afraid to ask her questions because she wouldn’t get annoyed but rather encouraged me to ask questions, which helped to clear up misconceptions.

Mr Hongyi and Mr Kin Leong are both very dedicated and skilled tutors that have helped me improve my failing grades to well above passing marks, very close to a distinction. In a very short time, Mr Kin Leong was able to help me consolidate my Chemistry learning and correct my many misconceptions that were pulling my grades down. Similarly, Mr Hongyi was very patient with me and is very skilled in finding alternate ways to explain a concept when I could not understand it the first time. I am very thankful to the two of them for helping me achieve the grades I have today.

Mr Kin Leong has helped me tremendously for my chemistry, from a 3 when I first started tuition with him to a 7 for my actual IBs. From making sure I was familiar with every topic’s content to giving me practice papers every week and going through all the questions I had, he has put in a lot of effort to help me improve my chemistry and I am extremely grateful for his help.

Mr. KL played a key role in helping me achieve a grade 7 in SL Chemistry, as it was only because of his lessons that I could understand key concepts in the syllabus that I previously struggled with. His lessons are very focused on the topics that I need extra help with and the resources he gave helped a lot with my revision as well.

Ms Jullie was very patient when answering all my doubts and queries. Her subject knowledge is strong. She made me feel confident and prepared me well for my exams. Zoom lessons were also very convenient as this allowed me to save travel time.

As he likes to study math and science he enjoys Mr. Kin’s lessons.

As a student who did online tutoring, I would actually consider it more useful than in person tutoring. Online tutoring was more time efficient and allowed me to spend more time studying. I believe your tutors were well equipped to teach in the pandemic and I received valuable tuition online.

He is very clear when giving explanations and he knows what exactly is required when answering the questions. Mindlab has helped by offering lessons that helped to clear the misunderstandings & confusions. Also, past year papers and answers were given such that we know the requirements while answering the questions.

Mr. Kin Leong teaches in a very engaging way and gave me useful tips to face the exams.

Being able to switch between online and face to face lessons tremendously helped my exam preparations. The face to face lessons are practical and comfortable, and the online sessions allow for more flexibility which does not compromise on the quality of learning.

I took the IGCSE Exams in 2020 and took the valuable coaching from Mindlab. I’m extremely thankful to Ms Michele and Mr Kin Leong for taking me additional care for my Biology and Chemistry which i scored C(51%) in prelims where Mindlab tutors and Admin staff helped me to secure the correct slot and given me coaching to get A*(A star, ) in Biology(90%) and Chemistry(93%) in Final IGCSE results. I am much thankful and appreciated to the team and now i have taken HL Bio, Chemistry and Economics and again took the coaching from Mindlab tutors for IB for all the 3 HL subjects and including SL Mathematics and hope to get the best score out of IB. I remember first entering Mindlab for his Chemistry HL trial lesson in the middle of 2018. I walked in feeling apprehensive if it would be of any help, considering I only scored a low grade 4 in my Y5 common test despite working the hardest I have ever done. However, he reassured me and started his lesson on Chemical Bonding and Structures. I was surprised how he made the concepts understandable for me, and in just one lesson – he allowed me to see hope of improving in the subject. This hope stayed on and with his guidance, I managed to make a huge improvement and received a Grade 6 in my Y5 final year exam. He didn’t stop there though, and continued to push and encourage me to do even better. With time, he lead me on a journey to thoroughly enjoy Chemistry as a subject, and eventually allowed me to cross the Grade 7 boundary by more than 10 points for the IB exam. For his teaching, I am truly thankful!

The improvement I’ve made, thanks to Ms Nicole, was quite amazing! In the beginning of the year, I was failing Chemistry HL. Although, I was actually giving up hope, Ms Nicole really put in a lot of effort to help me. She would make sure to go through everything and make sure that I could understand without any problem. So for this exam, I managed to get quite a high 5.

Physics: Very nice and patient, knows how to break down solutions to questions into similar steps and explain them well, helped me develop problem solving skills and made me more confident in answering questions during final exam.

Chemistry: Passionate about the subject, can explain theories very well, gives a lot of revision materials that are useful, always make sure that I fully understand what he is teaching, lessons are very productive.

Short feedback on the tuition class experience with my tutor: She’s is very patient and immediately realised my weaknesses. Her ability to hone in on areas I lacked allowed me to improve immensely. Mr. Leong provided me with comprehensive materials and practice questions to help me with my preparation for unit tests, mock exams, and final exams. Even if it wasn’t the topic we were currently covering, he had all the answers to my questions. His notes were concise and very helpful for reviewing before exams. He was flexible too, adjusting to fit my exam and school schedule ( e.g. picking up the essential parts when having less time preparing for the test / preparing for tests combining several units, etc). Ms Michelle provided many useful past papers for me to prepare for my final exam. She always check my answers carefully and give me feedback to improve my skills in answering essay questions.

Mr Cedric’s lessons are always very interesting and creative. He prepared many videos for me to practice my listening skill, as well as online articles to help me improve my reading comprehension.

Mr Devin and Ms Imee have been very helpful in my understanding of different theories in chemistry. They can always answer the questions that I don’t understand. At the same time, they strengthen my ability of answering different type of questions.

Ms Siti is an amazing tutor as she managed to help me understand all the concepts taught in the course and identify and build on my weak points through her very well structured sessions. Her teaching method enables swift, accurate and easy to understand explanations which made things clear and straight to the point for me. She also taught multiple methods to solving questions which I found to be life saving.

My Chem tutor has also helped me significantly, in a very short period of time she clearly explained every chapter of the course. She helped identify my weak points and found solutions to strengthen them through teaching me various methods to solve the questions.

Mr Devin was very helpful and i think i understood the chem topics more indepth and well after his teaching and was happy with all the extra practices i was given for both chem and math that let me get better at topics i was bad at.

Ms Michelle helped me revise certain topics for bio and went through it again with me along with giving me exam tips on how i can score better.

Mr Chee Teck helped me get a better understanding on how the business paper should be written as he helped me understand the format of writing and was very willing to help in any way he could.he also printed out alot of practice for me to do and went through all the papers with me ensuring i knew what i was doing.

My amath was very bad at first. I always get a C for the common tests and other exams. Whatever I asked Mr jiabin for help, he kindly answered every question. I was so surprised how fast his mental calculation and his knowledge of maths. Ms. Lyn provided me a lot of help with my english. I have learned many new things and these experiences are useful for my future. My first language is not english but ms Lyn always tried to explain me in deep so that I can understand and absorb those. I can say that all her help throughout the year was unforgettable!
