In an International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) classroom, cultural diversity proves itself useful through its international focus and emphasis on intercultural understanding. However, implementing cultural diversity in an IBDP classroom can be challenging due to language barriers and cultural misunderstandings. Hence, teachers need to be aware of these challenges and find ways to address them to create a culturally inclusive learning environment.
Research has shown that cultural diversity has a positive impact on students’ academic achievement. Students in culturally diverse classrooms tend to have better critical thinking skills and higher academic performance. Additionally, cultural diversity can enhance students’ social and emotional development by promoting empathy and reducing prejudice.
